Winter Wineland 2018

Winter Wineland was this past weekend. A weekend pass was $52.32 (including tax and service fee) and $6.69 for the designated driver. The event was 11am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.

You get a logo wine glass or a mug (if you're the dd). I loved the mug!

Prior to the start of the event, we were invited to a brunch at Soda Rock. I love the metal boar out front.

The brunch was quite good--bagel with lox, biscuit with jam, bacon, quiche. The bacon actually worked well with their cabernets.

Our official starting winery was J. Rickards. They had a nice Portuguese Bean Soup, paired with 2016 Bettino's Blend. The soup was nice since it was a cold morning.

Next stop was Truett Hurst/VML. We had gotten a case of Bradford Mountain in past years but this year, they didn't have any great case deals.

At Kokomo's, they paired White Bean Cassoulet with their Grenache.

Next door, at Colliers Falls/Lago di Merlo, they had a nice Cioppino.

We also visited Papapietro Perry and Peterson at the Family Wineries. In addition to Kokomo's, Colliers Falls and Lago di Merlo, other wineries included Amphoro, Dashe, Mietz and Philip Staley.

Our next stop was Mazzocco, known for their Zinfandels and then Ridge Lytton Springs. Ridge had a bottle of Monte Bello Cabernet for $200. That was probably the most expensive wine we saw throughout the day. Unfortunately, they weren't offering tastings.

Bistro 29

The next day at Bistro 29, the entree was a pork dish and we went back to have dinner.

Salad of field greens with Dijon vinaigrette.

Roast pork loin--moist and delicious!

Same crepe dessert.

Bistro 29

I took advantage of the special prix fixe dinner at Bistro 29 once again--$20 for 3 courses.

We tried a dry cidre, a specialty of the Breton region in France. It's low in alcohol.

First course was a soup or salad. I chose the creamy soup.

The entree was a boeuf bourguignon with creamy potatoes.

Dessert was a crepe.

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ is located at 2150 Santa Rosa Avenue in Santa Rosa, next to Costco.

I usually get the Kahlua Pork for $8.50. It's slow smoked pork with cabbage, a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaronic salad. It's pretty authentic. I love the macaroni salad--just the amount of mayo.

Lee's Noodle House

Lee's Noodle House, located at 1010 Hopper Ave. in Santa Rosa, has Chinese and Vietnamese noodle soups.

Rice Noodle Soup with Seafood (Squid & Prawns)--$6.95 for small. Clear broth but flavorful. The small wasn't very filling so I'll order the large next time.

Chelino's Mexican Restaurant

Chelino's Mexican Restaurant is located at 1079 4th Street in Santa Rosa.

Chile Verde Dinner--$11.95. It includes rice & beans (I ask for double rice), guacamole & chips and flour or corn tortilla. This is a huge portion and the chile verde is very good.
