Volta

We got tickets to see Volta, a Cirque du Soleil production. It was a very good show. The theater is very intimate and even though we were near the back, we still had great views. The seats were narrow though.

My favorite parts were the woman who was suspended by her hair and the trampoline act. The washing machine segment was boring.

Riviera

Had another great dinner at Riviera Ristorante, located at 75 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa.

Sole with Lemon Butter--fish of the day.

Veal Milanese--$19. Breaded veal cutlet with lemon white wine sauce. I'm not fan of fried food and liked the piccata better.

Veal Piccata--$19. Veal with capers and white wine lemon sauce. This was tender and I loved the sauce.

Ippinn Udon & Tempura

Ippinn is located at 1880 Mendocino Avenue, near the Santa Rosa JC. It's an interesting setup.

Pick up a tray and a plate, order your udon or rice dish.

Move down the counter and add a variety of fried items to your plate, pay at the end of the counter.

I ordered the Tonkatsu Udon--$9.49. It comes with pork belly chasu and a coddled egg in a rich tonkatsu broth. I asked for mine without green onions but asked for a side of cilantro. You have a choice of thin noodles or udon. The broth was very flavorful, the chasu was very tender and the egg was perfectly cooked.

I got a side of Green Onion Pancake--$1.50. This was also quite good.

Mixed Fries--$0.99. I couldn't find ranch dressing to go with it.

I also got the Seaweed Salad--$0.99 but forgot to take a picture.

KS Tian Yuen

KS Tian Yuen is a Chinese restaurant that recently opened in Windsor. It's located at 610 McClelland Drive.

Tofu with Shrimp Vermicelli Clay Pot--$16.99. This wasn't what I expected of a clay pot dish. It was still soupy instead of caramelized on the bottom. It was pretty bland.

Pork Eggplant--$10.99. This was slightly spicy and the best tasting of the dishes we ordered. There wasn't much eggplant but it was loaded with pork. The pork was tender.

Beef Chow Fun--$13.99. This was okay. The beef was tough and there wasn't much flavor.

Simply Vietnam Express

Simply Vietnam Express is located at 3381 Cleveland Ave. in Santa Rosa.

#11 Pho with Rare Steak & Meatballs--$12. Too much meat but good broth.

Simply Vietnam Express also sells ShareTea. I ordered Mango & Passion Fruit Green Tea with 10% sugar--$4.50. I added boba for $0.50. I liked my drink but I can go with even less sugar next time. My husband ordered the Strawberry Black Tea--$4.25 with Boba for $0.50.

Kong Tofu & BBQ

Kong Tofu & BBQ is my favorite Korean tofu place in the Bay Area. It's located at 19625 Stevens Creek Blvd in Cupertino.

The meals come with banchans--my favorites are the fish cakes and chap chae.

Clam Tofu Soup--$13.49. I get mine mild, without green onions and with the purple rice--$0.49.

Spicy Pork Bibimbab--$15.99. Vegetables & Egg over white rice served in hot stone bowl. The rice gets a nice crunch on the bottom. Didn't get a picture.

Ribeye Beef Soup with Udon Noodles--$15.99. The soup was on the sweet side. Also didn't get a picture of this.

Perch & Plow

Had dinner at Perch & Plow, 90 Old Courthouse Square. I made a meal out of small plates.

Garlicky Green Beans--$8. Simple dish with garlic, green beans and ages balsamic.

Grilled Octopus--$12. Chickpea puree, fennel pesto, pickled onions and arugula. Small portion but the octopus was tender, maybe a little too much on the soft side.

Charred Cauliflower--$10. Coconut curry, harissa, cilantro with pickled onions. I loved this dish. The coconut curry is delicious.
