Further down on 2nd Street is La Posada Hotel. It's located at 303 E. Second.
La Posada is a former Harvey House built in 1928.
The hotel is beautifully restored.
In the gift shop, you'll find a beautiful chandelier.
The gift shop also sells china used at La Posada.
The Turquoise Room features fine dining. Because of COVID, we ordered take out.
Corn Maiden's Delight--bowl of yellow corn polenta topped with roasted tomatoes, fresh spinach, two poached eggs, jalapeño jack cheese and roasted corn salsa--$13. This was quite good but would have been better if the poached eggs weren't overcooked.
Baked Beef Machaca Chilaquiles--$14. Shredded beef machaca with tomatoes, peppers, onions and spices scrambled with two eggs, smoky red chile tomato sauce, crispy red & blue tortilla chips, jalapeño jack cheese. Topped with crema fresca and roasted salsa served with black beans. This was delicious and definitely worth a detour to eat.
We ate it on the patio.
View of the back lawn with the train pulling up at the station.
