Montmartre, Part 2

After lunch, we finished our tour of Montmartre.

They're a little hard to see but there were soldiers with machine guns patrolling the city. After the recent events at Charlie Hebdo, security was increased.

The tour of Montmartre took us to the Dali Museum--Dali lived in Montmartre in the 1920s & 30s.

La Maison Rose Restaurant, made famous by a Utrillo painting and once frequented by Picasso & Gertrude Stein.

Clos Montmartre Vineyard--the last remaining vineyard in Montmartre. In October, an annual five-day grape harvest festival, the FĂȘte des Vendanges, is celebrated.

Au Lapin Agil Cabaret--once frequented by Picasso, Renoir, Utrillo. It's still an active cabaret today.

Le Bateau-Lavoir once housed Picasso's studio and apartment. Picasso started his Cubism phase here. Other artists who lived here included Henri Matisse, Juan Gris, Max Jacob & Maurice Utrillo. Imagine what it was like back then.

Moulin de la Galette--one of 2 wooden windmills that still exists.

The other wooden windmill.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's house.

Moulin Rouge--the end of the tour. It was the birthplace of the can-can dance and is still a working cabaret.
