Wine & Food Affair 2014

In the fall, the Wine Road hosts a Wine & Food Affair. It's 2 days of visiting wineries in Sonoma County and enjoying food & wine pairings. Cost is $78.65 per person, $34.27 for a designated driver. You get a wrist band, a logo glass and a calendar. Designated drivers get a wrist band, logo mug and calendar. They're provided non-alcoholic options and get to taste the food. In previous years, you got a cookbook, which I preferred.

We started in Healdsburg and picked up sticky buns at the Healdsburg Downtown Bakery & Creamery. We figured we'd better eat something before drinking so early.

Sticky buns for $2.50. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. This seemed different--it didn't have as much "sticky."

We chose Twomey as our starting winery. We arrived at 11 am, just as the event was starting.

Sunchoke & Bacon Soup, paired with a pinot noir. I was the designated driver, so I had a coke instead.

Just down the street was Matrix, serving Butternut Bacon Bisque.

Next up was Mill Creek with Chocolate Cheesecake with Chocolate Ganache/Raspberry Topping. Mill Creek was not as welcoming as the other wineries. They insisted that we taste all their varietals, even if we weren't interested in the whites.

Ramazzotti Wines serving Baci Gourmet Mushroom Ragu with Ramazzotti Barbera & Polenta. This was delicious--creamy and rich.
