It's just a few minutes walk from the Kviknes Hotel to the center of Balestrand and the ferry dock.

Ferry dock in Balestrand. There is a passenger ferry from Balestrand to Vik. It's an express boat that leaves Balestrand at 7:50 am. There are only 2 express boats per day. The other one leaves Balestrand at 16:55. The return ferry from Vik to Balestrand is at 11:55 and 20:25. Cost NOK115 each way.
If you have a car, you have to drive to Dragsvik, 9 km from Balestrand, then take the ferry to Vangsnes (NOK95 for car and passenger, NOK34 for each additional passenger). From Vangsnes, it's 11 km to Hopperstad Stave Church in Vik.

It's a quick 15-minute trip across the Sognefjord to Vik.
Ferry dock in Vik. There's no one at the ferry terminal, just a map showing the attractions in Vik. Walk straight up from the ferry dock away from the water and you'll hit the center of town.
Look to the left as you step off the ferry and you'll find these colorful houses.
