The outside was charming, with ivy covering the entrance and a bicycle to boot. There was a handwritten menu, so it looked promising.
The inside is small. At 7:30pm, it was mainly tourists--most were from Great Britain. The Italians generally eat after 8:30pm.
This was their house red for €24. It was young but after allowing it to sit for a while, it was good.
Prosciutto Crudo di Parma con Mozzarella di Buffalo--€10. The prosciutto was hand cut and flavorful but it didn't quite melt in your mouth. The mozzarella was rubbery and not what I expected.
One of the primi specials was Tortiglioni (a large rigatoni) con Sugo di Coda alla Vaccinara (oxtail stew)--€12. The oxtail was fall off the bone but the pasta was a little too al dente for my taste. It almost crunched.
Spaghetti alla Carbonara--€9. The sauce was good but once again too al dente.
Fettuccini all'Uovo (egg) al Ragu di Manzo e Vitello (beef and veal sauce)--€10. This was quite good and the pasta wasn't as crunchy.
For the secondi (main course), we chose Polpette alla Salsa di Pomodoro e Basilico (meatballs with tomatoes and basil) con Patate al Forno (roasted potatoes)--€12. These were quite good and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle.
Saltimbocca alla Romana (veal with sage & prosciutto) con Potate al Forno--€12. The saltimbocca was very disappointing. There wasn't much sage flavor and the veal was tough.
