Metairie Cemetery

We had a little extra time and went to the Metairie Cemetery. It's the final resting place for some of New Orleans most prominent citizens.

You can drive around the cemetery and tour it on your own--no tour needed.

Inside the Hyams tomb

is "The Weeping Angel." The original is in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome and we had just visited it 6 months ago.

This building has yet to be occupied.

It's topped by an angel playing a trumpet.
