Coq Au Vin, Philo

We were headed to Albion for the weekend and had read a lot about Coq Au Vin. It is located at 1810 Hwy 128 in Philo. It's on the left driving north. If you pass the Navarro Store, you've gone too far.

It's a French country bistro that opened about a year ago. It got 4 1/2 stars on Yelp from 28 reviewers so we decided to try it.

Clams in Garlic Basil Butter--$12.95. This was tasty--how can it not be when it's loaded with garlic and butter.  It was especially delicious with the crusty bread. The portion was small though.

Boeuf Bourguignon--$27.95. The beef was tender and the sauce was very rich but I like mine with mushrooms and there were none. The potatoes were tender and the asparagus and snap peas were perfectly cooked.

Lamb Stew over Couscous--$28.95. The lamb was tender and it had a nice middle-eastern sauce. There were raisins in the dish which were okay.

Overall, I thought the experience was okay but I wouldn't stop every time I drove through. I would go back and try the French Onion Soup and maybe next time the Filet au Poivre will be on the menu.
