Wine & Food Affair, Day 1

The 20th annual Wine & Food Affair took place earlier this month. Around 90 wineries on the Wine Road in Sonoma County opened their doors and paired food with their signature wine. It was a smaller event than in years past.

Tickets cost a very reasonable $80 for the weekend, $60 for Sunday only and $30 for the designated driver.

Pick up your bracelet and wine glass or mug (for the designated driver) at the winery of your choice then visit as many wineries as you choose. The event took place from 10am-4pm on Saturday & Sunday.

We started at Virginia Dare.

They served Bison Stew with Wild Mushrooms, Guajillo Chiles and Butternut Squash.

Pech Merle was our next stop.

They served Chilean Crab Cakes--these were the best of the day. It was a huge crab cake and it was all crab with very little filler.

Right next door, Mercury Wine served Catelli's Meatballs.

In the same room, Ramazzotti Wines served Sweet T's Shrimp & Grits.

A few doors down was the  Locals Tasting Room, featuring multiple small family wineries.

They served Peking-Style Pork

Trione was our next stop.

Prime Beef Brisket Agnolotti.

Clos Du Bois served Middle Eastern Lamb Tacos with Cucumber Salsa and Garlic Yogurt paired with  their 2015 Old Vine Carignane. This was very tasty.

Ridge Vineyards served Zinfandel and Cherry Glazed Pork Belly Sliders.

Amista served Paella Campesina with Spanish Chorizo, Chicken and Gourmet Mushrooms.

At Amista, they also had chocolates by

Rued Winery served Cabernet Beef with Mushrooms and Bacon over Pappardelle.

We ended our day at Mazzocco Winery, serving Butternut Squash and Apple Soup with Applewood Smoked Bacon. The apples gave it a nice texture and of course anything with bacon is good.
