Filitosa

One hour from Ajaccio, on the way to Bonafacio at the southern end of the island, you'll find Filitosa. It's a prehistoric site dating to 4000 BC. It takes about an hour to tour the site.

Entrance fee is €7. We also got a guide book for €4.

The site is known for menhirs (tall upright stones), which were discovered in 1946.

Some menhirs have detailed faces.

The site is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

You'll find tracks, which are thought to be used to transport stones from one area to another.

Some of the menhirs are phallic.
