En Route to Holbrook

Drive along the frontage road south of I-40 from the Jack Rabbit Trading Post toward Holbrook

After 4.6 miles, cross I-40 and you'll find Joseph City at the T.

A historic marker is dedicated to the Mormons who settled here in 1876.

Joseph City used to be a lively tourist town but now has just a few residences.

Head west to find the Hope Village, Howdy Hanks and Sitting Bull's Indian Store. The tourist teepee is still out front.

Look on the balcony to find Howdy Hanks.

Continue west to find signs for an old campground.

Back track and enter I-40 at Exit 277.

Leave I-40 at Exit 280 to find the Geronimo Trading Post.

Tee pees and windmills

along with the "world's largest petrified tree"

and old carts are scattered outside.
