Kimolos

From Pollonia, in June, boats leave for Kimolos 4 times a day (07:15, 10:00, 14:30 & 18:30) on the weekdays and just twice a day (10:00 & 18:30) on the weekends. The boats leave Kimolos 30 minutes before the scheduled departure from Pollonia.

The ferry boat carries passengers (€2), motor bikes (€2.50) and cars (€10)--cost is each way. The boat docks in Psathi in Kimolos.

We left our car in Pollonia and rented a motor bike on Kimolos for €10/day. This was just a short walk from the ferry dock. The island is not large but too large to walk and public transportation is limited.

Beaches at Mavrospillia Bay, Ellinika and Dekas at the western end of the island were rocky, dirty and windy.

Prassa Bay on the north end of the island had a nice beach with some shade. This was where everyone who came from Pollonia went.

The main town of Hora was pretty deserted in early June. The main church in town was closed.

The restaurants in town were closed.

Only a few locals walking in the town.

We found the only shop that was open. It was an ice cream place and we got a cone of banana and one of mastica. The mastica was delicious and chewy. We sat with the owner and chatted.

I wouldn't recommend going to Kimolos in the shoulder and off season. The beaches are not that great to justify the trip and the town, while adorable, didn't have enough open to make it interesting.
