Hotel Bucegi & After-Dinner Snack

We had dinner at Hotel Bucegi, in the center of town. There's outdoor seating but then you have to deal with the smokers. We sat indoors where smoking is prohibited.

Romania has some good beer but I'm not a beer drinker. I had Strongbow cider instead. The 500 ml beer as well as the Strongbow were 9 lei ($2.12) each.

Ciorba de burta--23 lei ($5.42). This is sour soup with tripe. Surprisingly, it was really good. The sourness is from sour cream and lemon or vinegar.

Frog Legs--22 lei ($5.19). These were the largest legs I've ever seen. The meat was tender and the coating was crispy. So good.

Wild Boar Pastrami--45 lei ($10.61). This was dry and too salty.

I found it odd that Romanian menus are required to list the weight of each menu item.

For dessert, we stopped at a snack stand and got a covrig (Romanian pretzel).

A covrig is 1.50 lei ($0.35).
