Sinaia

From Snagov, it's 1 1/2 hours north to Sinaia, a resort town backed by the Bucegi Mountains. You can hike in the summer and ski in the winter.

One of the sights in town is the Sinaia Monastery. On the day we visited, it was open later than the posted opening hours and there was no one collecting the 5 lei admission. The main church is impressive. No photos were allowed inside.

The bell tower and gift shop.

The monks' cells.

The Old Church is located within the monks' inner complex.

The door frame is richly decorated. This is a carving of Moses receiving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. Sinaia is named in honor of Mount Sinai.

The interior of the Old Church is beautifully painted.

In town, you'll find Parcul Dimitrie Ghica, a place where locals enjoy a beautiful green space.

Take a stroll on the wide paths.

The Sinaia Casino is located in the park.

Near the casino is the Hotel Palace.

There was a children's section in the park. What an adorable ferris wheel!

Sinaia has beautiful old buildings, including the Hotel Caraiman, located at the edge of the park.

This building just outside the park was for sale.

A short walk from the park brings you to the center of town.

This is the  Sinaia Town Hall.
