Casa Maramureseana

We asked for restaurant recommendations at the hotel and were directed to Casa Maramureseana. It was a 3-minute walk on the main road.

Casa maramureseana is located at Bulevardul 21 Decembrie 1989 82.

Ciorba Maramureseana--16 lei ($3.74). It's the house sour soup and it was so good! Sausage, bacon, pickled cabbage, egg and sour cream.

Grilled Trout--35 lei ($8.18). Served with polenta and garlic sauce. The trout was a whole fish and was delicious. I didn't care for the plain polenta and I definitely didn't like the garlic sauce. It was too garlicky and overpowered the fish.

Smoked Sausage--34 lei ($7.94). The sausage was deep fried and it was served with fries with feta cheese and horseradish sauce. The horseradish sauce was definitely more tasty than the garlic sauce. It had just the right amount of spice.

They also had good house wine. 500 ml for 15 lei ($3.50). I've been quite impressed with Romanian wine--wasn't expecting it at all.
