Varzarie

During the walking tour, our guide mentioned that one of the best places to try the local specialties was Varzarie.

Varzarie is located at Bulevardul Eroilor 37.

Lemonade with mint--7 lei ($1.64) for 500 ml. This was tart but I liked the mint in the lemonade.

Tomato and Cucumber Salad--3 lei ($0.63).

Varza a la Cluj--19 lei ($4.44). This is a deconstructed sarmale. The cabbage was layered with the meat and rice. It didn't look pretty but it was pretty tasty.

Mittetei with Mustard--16 lei ($6.74)

We also ordered Ciorba de Burta (tripe sour soup)--15 lei ($3.50). We ordered 1 bowl but were served 2 bowls. We were charged for sour cream (2 lei per serving--$0.47) and pepper (1 lei each--$0.24) as well even though we didn't order them. Keep an eye on the waiter to make sure you get what you ordered.
