Casamento's Restaurant

I read a lot of articles & blogs and watched a lot of YouTube videos to decide where to eat in New Orleans.

Emeril recommended Casamento's Restaurant.

It's located at 4330 Magazine Street. The inside is old fashioned and adorable.

The restaurant was founded in 1919 and they take only cash!

They were one of the few places that had oysters. There has been a shortage of oysters because of recent flooding on the Mississippi that prompted the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway. Too much fresh water was infused into the oyster beds and the oysters were stressed and died.

These chargrilled oysters were dry but the Parmesan cheese topping was good. A dozen was $21.50.

Emeril really liked their Oyster Loaf--1/2 for $9.25, whole for $18.50. The oysters were good but I didn't like the toasted thick white bread. Skip next time.

Soft-shell Crab Platter--$18.50. The crab was fresh, meaty and sweet.
