Larkspur Ferry

I live in Sonoma County and it's always such a hassle to drive to the City, especially if I'm planning to spend the night. For the SF Chefs event, I thought I would try the ferry and it turned out to be an easy thing to do.

I drove to the Larkspur Ferry, located at 101 E. Sir Francis Drake Blvd, just off Hwy 101. Parking is free for now. The weekend schedule is significantly reduced and there are only 4 ferries--at 9:40 am, 11:40 am, 1:40 pm and 4:45 pm. It takes 50 minutes to get to the SF Ferry Building.

One-way ticket is $9.50. You can purchase a Clipper Card for $3, which entitles you to a reduced fare of $6.25. If you purchase your Clipper Card online, there is no charge for the card, as long as you sign up for Autoload.

It's a beautiful ride and if the weather is nice, you can sit outside. Otherwise, there are comfortable seats indoors. You can bring your bikes onboard and there is a snack bar on the ferry.

The return ferry leaves SF at 12:40 pm, 3:45 pm, 6:25 pm and 7:25 pm.
