La Rose Des Sables, Vernon

You can have dinner in Giverny or you can drive 10 minutes across the bridge to the town of Vernon. If you don't have a car, you'll likely arrive in Vernon by train when visiting Giverny.

We wanted to eat at Auberge du Petit Val but we didn't have reservations. We arrived at 8:30 pm and the restaurant was full. Word of advice: if you don't have reservations, arrive around 7 pm for dinner. You'll have a decent chance of getting a table.

Next door was La Rose Des Sables, located at 29 avenue de l'ile de France and they had an available table.

Marinated carrots and olives were brought to the table.

My husband ordered a special salad with chèvre and "brick"--€12. The brick was cheese in phyllo.

I ordered the Couscous with Merguez Sausage and Lamb Kebob--€13.

The couscous was served with a large bowl of vegetables in broth. There was 1 sausage and 1 kebob. It was quite good but since this was my first couscous in France, I wasn't sure if the French considered it good.
