Campo de' Fiori

We woke up to a gorgeous clear blue sky. Our first stop was the Campo de' Fiori market.

In the morning, the market is filled with stalls selling fruits, vegetables and flowers. The market closes at 4pm and you can get a deal at the end of the market day. Fruit cups are €1 instead of €2.50.

In the center of the market, there is a statue of Giordano Bruno, who was burned in the very spot where the statue stands. Bruno was a heretic who published satirical plays about Church morals and believed that the earth revolved around the sun.

April is artichoke season. The Roman artichokes are a beautiful purple.

Stop by the Forno in a corner of Campo de' Fiori.

They are known for their Pizza Bianco--a pizza crust brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt. This had a nice crunch and is so flavorful. Absolutely delicious. The Pizza Bianco is sold by weight--€10/kg. This slice was €2.30.
