Testaccio

From Circus Maximus, we continued walking southwest to reach Testaccio, a working-class neighborhood.

Porta San Paolo--one of 14 gates in the Aurelian wall.

Walk through the Porta San Paolo to reach the Pyramid of Gaius Cestius. Cestius was a rich Roman magistrate who built this pyramid as his tomb.

Walk around the Pyramid to reach the Protestant Cemetery. a cemetery dedicated to non-catholic foreigners. The poets Shelly & Keats are both buried here.

There are some beautiful sculptures within the cemetery. This is the Weeping Angel (also known as the Angel of Grief), near Shelly's tomb. A similar angel can be found in the Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.

Another angel found in the cemetery.

Lost Boy sculpture in the cemetery.
