Friday Night Dinner

I couldn't resist going to last week's Friday dinner. The menu was amazing and who could resist 2 Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Five courses and 8 wines for $49.95.

It was a small group--just 4 of us. The other couple was Tammy & John from San Diego. They had read about Flavor online and thought it would be similar to the Wine Vault in San Diego. We'll have to try it the next time we're in San Diego.

Torte a la Provençal--Organic Warm Tomato & Zucchini Tartlet Flavored with Sweet Herbs & Comté Cheese, paired with 2013 Quivira Vineyards & Winery Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley

Aile De Raie Meunière--Sautéed Skate Served in Brown Butter & Lemon, paired with 2012 Calera Wine Company Chardonnay, Central Coast

Cassoulet--Petite Cassoulet of Duck Confit, Homemade Garlic Sausage, Bacon, White Beans & Garlic-Thyme Jus, paired with 2011 Louis Jadot Vosne-Romanée A.O.C., Burgundy, France, 2011 Evening Land Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir, Seven Springs Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon and 2012 Aresa Pinot Noir, Carneros, Napa. The Evening Land and Aresa were drinkable Pinots but the Jadot, despite a very earthy fragrance, paired best with the cassoulet.

Steak Frites--Grilled Filet Mignon Served in Lyonnaise Sauce Garnished with Garlic Pommes Frites & Three-Cheese 'Pot de Crème, paired with 2012 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Télégramme, Provence, France and 2009 Château Mont-Redon, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône Valley, France.

Galette De Fraise--Warm Strawberry Galette Served with Vanilla Bean Custard, paired with 2011 Novy Family Wines 'Oley' Late Harvest Viognier, Russian River Valley
