There are lots of stands selling Halal plates. The Halal Guys are at 6th Avenue & West 53rd Street. They rated 4 1/2 stars on Yelp with nearly 5800 reviews.
Plate of 1/2 chicken and 1/2 lamb over rice with small salad--$6. It was delicious and a large portion. I still crave this and wish we had something similar closer to home.
