Restaurant Reykjavik

On day 2 of our trip, we woke up at 10:30 am at sunrise. Found another lunch buffet, just a 10 minute walk from our apartment.

The Restaurant Reykjavik is located near Ingolfur Square.

The lunch buffet was ISK 2250, roughly $22. Tax is included in the price and tipping is not customary.

The soup of the day was a delicious Icelandic Lamb Soup. This was a tomato based soup and had a rich broth.

There were lots of salads--green salad, pasta salad, potato salad and rice salad.

There was pickled herring. shellfish ceviche, chili shrimp, smoked salmon and fish pate. Don't get too excited. None of these were especially memorable. They had one fish dish--ling and trout with vegetables. Again, not very memorable.

They did have dessert, which was what was missing at Messinn. This is Skyr (Icelandic yogurt). It tastes like panna cotta but was healthier for you.

There were 2 types of cakes but the highlight was the house made sorbets. There was blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and licorice. Delicious!
