Quartiere Coppede

A while back I had read about the fairy-tale like neighborhood of Quartiere Coppede. It's a 15-minute walk from the Borghese Gallery. It's worth a detour if you're visiting the Borghese Gallery but it's probably not worth a trip on its own unless you're really into architecture.

The neighborhood was designed by Florentine architect Gino Coppede from 1913-1927. There are no shops and no cafes. It'll take about 30 minutes to wander the quarter.

Enter the neighborhood through the arch at Via Tagliemento and Via Dora.

Notice the chandelier that hangs from the arch.

If you're an architectural buff, you'll love the range of buildings here.

This building is Gaudi-esque.

Nearby is the Chiesa Santa Maria Addolorata at Piazza Buenos Aires, the Argentine national church.
