Chambres d'Hotes & Restaurant le Cayrols

From Sarlat, it's a 2 1/2 hour drive to our stop for the night--Chambres d'Hotes le Cayrols.

Chambres d'Hotes le Cayrols is a bed & breakfast with eclectic art on its grounds, including a Japanese bridge,

a giant metal shopping bag, among other art.

Entrance to the bed & breakfast. Parking is nearby.

Beautiful pool on the grounds.

We stayed in a mini apartment,

complete with kitchen.

We were there just before the start of high season and had the B&B to ourselves.

There is a restaurant attached to the hotel. It's popular with locals although the night we were there, there was only 1 other party.

Our table on the terrace.

Amuse bouche of Olive Tapenade.

We had a bottle of red wine for €19. We also had a glass of peche (peach) kir each for €4.

Cream of Asparagus Soup.

The 3-course menu is €35. One option for the first course was 63 degree Eggs with Cream of Cheese Sauce. The egg was cooked a tad too long but still quite good.

The 2nd option was Foie Gras with Raspberry Puree.

We both chose the Duck Breast with Mashed Potatoes (with Olive Oil), Carrot Mousse and Seasonal Vegetables. This was delicious!

Cheese course was one of the options for dessert.

Another dessert option was Deconstructed Lemon Tart.

Breakfast the next morning was included in the room rate. There were sweet bread options, cheese,  prosciutto, fruit and yogurt, in addition to orange juice and tea or coffee.
