Tisza

At the Holiday Inn on Old Redwood Highway in Windsor, Tisza is helmed by a Hungarian chef. Before my trip to Bilbao, Spain a few years ago, I would have poo-pooed any restaurant in a Holiday Inn but we had one of our best meals at the Holiday Inn Express there. Tisza did not disappoint.

Cheese biscuits delivered after you order--delicious.

Appetizer special of Scallops over Mashed Peas and Beet Sauce--delicious.

Charbroiled Octopus, Hungarian Sausage, Duck Fat Fingerling Potatoes, Crispy Grey Lentil, Sauce Gribiche--$14. Also quite delicious. The octopus was well prepared--tender and not chewy.

Ricotta Gnocchi (Gnudi) with Spring Peas, Asparagus, Pea Shoots, Herb Pesto, Parmesan--$23. The gnocchi was airy but a little overpriced.

Roasted Atlantic Salmon with Crispy Potato Pancake, Sautéed Spinach, Riesling Reduction--$25. This was quite good.

Braised Lamb Shank with Red Cabbage and Apples, Steam Dumpling, Braising Jus--$29. This was disappointing. The lamb shank wasn't tender enough and the bread dumpling was boring.
