National Portrait Gallery

The National Portrait Gallery is located opposite the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Admission is free but an audio guide costs £3.

You'll find portraits of royals, musicians, movie stars and authors.

Portrait of Elizabeth I at her coronation at the age of 26. Note the elaborate frame with a crown on top.

Elizabeth I at 42 years old.

William Shakespeare at 45 before he retired.

There's even a portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart in the National Portrait Gallery.

Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was the queen of George III. She was a German who met George and married him that night.

Chevalier D'Eon was a French soldier who lived as a woman.

Self portrait of David Hockney with Charlie.

Queen Elizabeth II with her corgi.

Diana, Princess of Wales--1961-1997.

Sir Elton John

Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton, polar explorer.

I mainly went to the National Portrait Gallery in search of Kate Middleton. Unfortunately, her portrait was on tour in Texas. I snapped this picture of a postcard of the portrait.
