Fleet Week & the Blue Angels

This past weekend was Fleet Week in San Francisco. The highlight was an air show featuring the Blue Angels. I had never seen the Blue Angels before. We tried once but the fog was so thick that the show was cancelled.

Anticipating a horrendous scene with traffic, we opted to take the Larkspur ferry to the Ferry Terminal in San Francisco. The ferry was supposed to leave at 11:40 am but left closer to noon. We walked from the Ferry Terminal and had planned to go to McDowell Road to watch the air show. This was supposed to provide the best view with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. The bridge was enshrouded in fog so instead, we found a spot on the grass in Aquatic Park. If the show got cancelled, we would have easy access to Ghiradelli to console ourselves with ice cream.

The program was:
12:30 pm--US Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team
12:45 pm--US Coast Guard Rescue Demo
1:00 pm--Ace Maker T-33
1:15 pm--Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Extra-330 flown by Matt ChaPMan
1:30 pm--Red Star Pilots Formation Team
1:45 pm--Michael Wiskus and the Lucas Oil Air Show
2:00 pm--Patriots Jet Team Formation Demo
2:30 pm--UAL 747 Demo
2:45 pm--Sean Tucker's Team Oracle Pitts Special
3:00 pm--US Navy Blue Angels

Patriots Jet Team Formation Demo--I must say this was an impressive performance.

UAL 747 Demo. This was a big plane flying back and forth--not too impressive. They should have used a Dreamliner..

The Blue Angels supply plane--it flew pretty low.

The Blue Angels were the last to perform and in my opinion, it was a boring show. There were many fly-bys but not too many impressive maneuvers. They were loud though.
