Hotel St. Martin, Colmar

Back to France...We touched down at ZRH (Zurich Airport, also known as Kloten Airport) on time. It was a huge airport and a long walk (took us 15 minutes from our arrival gate ) to the Car Rental Center, but at least we didn't have to take a shuttle. We picked up our Budget Rental Car and were thrilled to find a GPS in the car.

It took us 2 1/2 hours to drive the 150 km to Colmar, France. I later discovered that if I had touched the Toll Road button on the GPS, we might have saved 45 minutes. It was actually a better drive through the back roads and we were glad we took the more scenic route.

The Hotel St. Martin is located in the center of Colmar. There is no parking at the hotel but there is a free lot, the Vieille Ville (Old Town), just 2 blocks from the hotel. The hotel is so conveniently located. We were able to walk to all the sites in Colmar.

The hotel was built in 1361. We had a very quaint and traditional room--$99/night. I booked on Expedia because it was actually less on Expedia than through the hotel's site. Breakfast was not included but you could get it for an additional €12/person. Who needs a hotel breakfast when there's a bakery 3 doors down?

Although the room was traditional, the bathroom was very modern.
