Verdigris

Our first dinner was at Verdigris, located at 1315 NE Fremont Street in Portland. Each of the 3-course dinners for Restaurant Month was $33.

Amuse Bouche of Tomato Soup with Goat Cheese. This was tasty but unfortunately was only lukewarm.

Complimentary dinner rolls. These were good but there was only 1 per person. No extras.

One of the options for the first course was soup du jour. This was a seafood chowder and quite good.

Another option for the first course was Smithfield Ham and White Bean Cassoulet, 60 Minute Egg, Fennel Sausage, Persillade. The cassoulet had a lot of flavor. Not sure the egg added much.

One of the entree options was Two Way Idaho Trout with French Green Lentils, Butternut Squash, Trout Roe Vinaigrette. My friend liked the crispy trout skin.

Another entree option was Beef Bourguignon, Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Root Vegetables, House Bacon. This also had a nice flavor.

Grilled 6-oz Top Sirloin, Duck Fat Potatoes, Broccoli Rabe, Bernaise Sauce. The sirloin was tough even though it was cooked rare. The Bernaise didn't have enough tarragon flavor. I was disappointed by this dish.

Fallen Chocolate Souffle Cake, Cardamon Orange Compote. This was a little dry.

Another option for dessert was Artisan Cheese du Jour which on this night was a blue cheese. Nothing too special with the cheese.
