Bergen to Alesund

We left Bergen at 10:30 pm and there was still light.

Leaving Bergen

As we left Bergen, we sailed under the Askoy Bridge, Norway's 13th longest bridge but with the longest single span in Norway. It looked like the Golden Gate Bridge.

We reached Maloy and the Maloy Bridge at 7 am the next morning. Maloy is one of Norway's largest fishing ports but it has just 3000 inhabitants. The bridge is 1224 meters long and has a clearance of 42 meters. When the wind howls, it produces a "high C" note.

We arrived in Torvik at 10:30 am. This is a municipality of 8,500 inhabitants. This is typical for the smaller ports--very industrial area.
