Meals on Hurtigruten

On the Hurtigruten, breakfast and lunch are buffets and dinner is usually a 3-course meal. If you are traveling from port to port and need to purchase meals, breakfast is NOK165 ($20), lunch NOK345 ($43) and dinner NOK445 ($55).

Dinner on embarkation was a buffet. Dinner was 18:00-21:00. It was a great buffet with the Norwegian shrimp that I had come to love. The shrimp is so sweet. There was every imaginable cured and smoked salmon, various cheeses and salads in the cold selections.

The hot selections included a pasta, vegetables and a meat dish. There were also homemade breads and rolls. The pasta was overcooked and my least favorite part of the offerings.

Breakfast the next morning included homemade croissants and breads. Breakfast was usually served 07:00-10:00.

Meats, salmon and pate.

Eggs, bacon, sausages and fish cakes

Pancakes, cheese and fruit.

Lunch was also a buffet. Lunch was served from 10:30-14:30, depending on when we arrived in port. There was usually a soup.

Seafood and salads galore for lunch. There was also a hot dish. Overall, I liked the food and found enough variety to keep me happy.
