Backyard

Friday night's dinner was at Backyard, located at 6566 Front Street in Forestville. Their dinner was $29.

One of the choices for the 1st course was Farmer's Lettuce Salad with Spring Vegetables & Preserved Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette. All the vegetables are grown on their farm. The dressing was delicious and the beets were very sweet but I'm not a big fan of frisee. Sometimes, it's bitter and this was.

One of the options for the entree was Chicken Pot Pie with Heirloom Carrots, Young Onions, Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuit Crust. My sister liked it, especially the crust with mini biscuits.

Another option was Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Housemade Sauerkraut and Polenta, Buttermilk Biscuit, Honey Butter. The chicken was tender and not greasy but the coating was a tad too dark.

The last option for the entree was Grass-Fed Bavette Steak with Winter Vegetables, Romanesco Sauce and Buttermilk Onion Rings. My friends loved the onion rings but the steak was a little tough.

One of the dessert options was Ron’s Chocolate Budino with Salted Caramel and Sweet Cream. This was thick but not dense and the salted caramel was perfect. We're still trying to figure out what the little balls were. They provided a little crunch to balance the creamy dessert.
