Spoonbar

Saturday night dinner was at Spoonbar, located at 219 Healdsburg Ave. in Healdsburg. They offered a $39 dinner.

One of the options for the first course was Yellowtail Tataki
Daikon Sprouts, Pickled Radishes, Cilantro Chimichurri, Yuzu Chive Aioli. This was quite tasty.

One of the entree options was Seafood Cioppino with San Marzano Tomato Broth, White Wine, Jumbo Gulf Prawns, Little Neck Clams, Squid, Mahi Mahi, Salmon, Grilled Lemon, Garlic Bread. The cioppino was very tasty but this was not worthy of a $39 meal. There was 1 small crab leg, 1 prawn, 2 clams, 3 mussels, a small amount of squid and I didn't even find any fish. The garlic bread should have been toasted more because it got soggy. On top of it all, the presentation was sloppy.

I should have ordered the cioppino off the menu for $36. I saw a customer with it and it was a good portion.

For dessert, one option was Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie with Toasted Pistachio, Wild Berries, Chantilly Cream, Cocoa Nib Tuile, Hibiscus Gastrique. This was literally a 2-bite brownie. Another disappointing serving size.

The other dessert option was Powdered Sugar Beignets with Blackberry sauce. The blackberry sauce was very tasty but the beignets were small.

We left dinner still hungry.

My friend went to Spoonbar the Thursday before and her Restaurant Week entree was much different.

Her cioppino was definitely different than my cioppino. I feel cheated :(
