We flew from CDG to DFW and cleared customs in Dallas. Dallas has machines instead of agents. Walk up to a machine, scan your passport and answer a series of questions. You receive a printout. This was fast and efficient.
We picked up our luggage then stood in the long line to turn in our printout. We answered the questions again with an agent.
I'm not sure it really saved time or manpower.
