Din Tai Fung

We had dinner at Din Tai Fung, the Taiwanese soup dumpling restaurant that can be found all over the world. They don't take reservations unless you want to reserve a private room.

There was a Din Tai Fung in the Silvercord Mall, 30 Canton Road, a 10-minute walk from the Sheraton. We got there at 6:45pm and there was no wait. We were told we had to finish in 1 1/2 hours though.

Drunken Chicken in Shaoxing Rice Wine--HK$75. Hong Kong chicken skin is very yellow.

Pork Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao)--HK$60. There are 6 dumplings in each steamer. Dip the dumplings in the ginger and vinegar/soy mixture. Mix 3x vinegar with 1x soy sauce. Place the dumpling in the soup spoon and bite or poke a hole in the dumpling to release the juice before eating the whole thing. If you don't release the juice, you risk burning your mouth.

Sauteed Spinach with Supreme Broth & Garlic--HK$65.

There is a HK$9/person charge for tea and 10% service charge is added to the bill. You're not obligated to leave additional tip unless you feel you had exceptional service.
