Sham Shui Po

Sham Shui Po, on the Kowloon peninsula, northwest of Tsim Sha Tsui, is a gritty, working class neighborhood. You can find cheap SIM cards and electronics on Apliu Street. Sham Shui Po is also a great place to eat.

There are many lively street markets in Sham Shui Po.

At KD Bakery, a short distance from Tim Ho Wan, we found these egg tarts for HK$2. Remember they were HK$9 at Tai Cheong Bakery. These were just as good for 1/4 the price.

We walked by Wing's Bakery and were handed sponge cakes. They were light as air.

Colorful Man Fung Building on Tai Nan Street. Madrid-based artist Okuda San Miguel covered the entire facade with multicolored geometric patterns, as part of the city-wide street art festival HK Walls in 2016. It's one of the most recognizable buildings in Hong Kong.
