Chinatown

Our flight arrived at noon and we used GrabCar to get to our hotel. We were able to check in, drop off our bags, freshen up, then take the MRT to Chinatown.

It was Sunday afternoon and there were a lot of people in Chinatown. They were getting ready for Chinese New Year and there were plenty of things to buy.

Unfortunately, one hour after we arrived, the skies opened up and there was a huge downpour. The rain was so hard that everyone took shelter and waited 30 minutes for the rain to lighten up.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is located in Chinatown. It was built in 2008 and reportedly contains the left canine of Buddha. Take the elevator to the 4th floor. You won't be able to get close to the 420 kg solid gold stupa that contains the relic but you can see a picture of the tooth. It didn't look human. No photos allowed.

Warrior that guards the temple.

Walk around Chinatown to see the colorful renovated shophouses surrounded by skyscrapers.
