Jumbo

A short walk from Merlion Park, near Clarke Quay, you'll find Jumbo, a seafood restaurant.

We arrived at 9 pm and there was no line. If you want to dine earlier, be sure to make reservations or be prepared to wait. There is seating inside and out.

Spinach Skin Beancurd with Crabmeat--small for S$22 ($16.25). This was quite good and there was a ton of crabmeat.

Golden Phoenix Chicken--half for S$20 ($14.80). This was also quite good. The chicken meat was pressed into a thin layer then topped with crispy skin. Another good dish.

Supreme Seafood Fried Rice--small for S$20 ($14.80). Another tasty dish.

The star of the show was the Chilli Crab. You have a choice of mud crab, Dungeness crab or Alaskan King crab. The recommendation for the chilli crab was to use the mud crab, which turned out to be the sweetest meat I have tasted. The chilli crab is sold by weight--S$9.20 per 100g. Our crab ended up costing S$79.20 ($58.60). It was pricy but definitely worth it. The sauce was amazing. Just the right spiciness and sweetness.

We also ordered fried buns--S$0.80 ($0.60) each. These were tiny but were great to eat with the sauce.
