About a block south of the plaza, you'll find the Mural de Mercaderes. It depicts 67 figures from Cuban arts & politics.
The mural is across from the building it mirrors.
Parque Guayasamin is further down the street.
A little further is Plaza de Simon Bolivar with a statue of Simon Bolivar.
The Casa de Simon Bolivar is nearby. It's a museum that details his life.
Mercaderes is a pleasant street--most of the buildings have been restored.
