Tu Lan Vietnamese Restaurant

Before the show, we ate at Tu Lan Vietnamese Restaurant. There was a short line and it smelled good. Apparently, Julia Child had liked the beef salad. The restaurant was a true hole-in-the-wall.

Imperial Rolls--$6.75. These were okay. There wasn't enough flavor in the meat filling.

Lemon Beef Salad--$8.95. I thought this was also just okay. The beef was dry and there wasn't much flavor.

Shrimp & Pork Noodle Soup--$7.95. The noodles were wide and there were large shrimp. Again, this dish was tasteless.

Bun Bo Hue--$8.25. This was not good either. It didn't have the depth of flavor that bun bo hue should have. There were only thin slices of beef. No pigs feet, no special Vietnamese green. I'm going to have to go to An Nam in San Jose for good bun bo hue.

Beef with Lemongrass--$8.95. Another disappointing dish. Not even lemongrass flavor.

Overall, this was such a disappointing dinner. It got 4 stars on Yelp and I don't know how it got that high a rating.
