Hostal Josefa

We left Cienfuegos at 3:40 pm and arrived in Santa Clara at 5:10 pm--cost was $6 for the Viazul bus.

It was a short walk to Hostal Josefa. It was right across the street from the small zoo. Our instructions were to find the hippo enclosure, look across the street and we would find the house.

The upper floor was an Airbnb rental with 2 bedrooms, each with a bathroom and air conditioning. We rented one of the bedrooms and had use of the kitchen, dining room, living room and balcony. There was a small TV in the corner of the bedroom. This was the first time we had seen a TV in Cuba. Cuban television has only 5 channels-1)baseball, 2)cartoon, 3)Cuban news, 4)National Geographic and 5)an American channel showing old shows.

The bathroom was clean. Only soap was supplied.

Functional kitchen area with large fridge.

Spacious living room.

The zookeeper allowed us to go inside the zoo to see the hippo.

It was a sad zoo with most of the animals in cages.

Capybara--the world's largest rodent.
