Cortina d'Ampezzo

Cortina d'Ampezzo is a mountain resort with a population of 6,000 that increases to 50,000 during the ski season. It is located in the Dolomites in northern Italy.

The town is adorable with a pedestrian zone filled with shops, galleries and restaurants.

Interesting sculptures in town.

The town is surrounded by gorgeous mountain scenery.

Basilica Minore dei Santi Filippo in the center of town.

When we visited, there was a 50s festival at the Hotel de la Poste in the center of town.

Cortina hosted the Winter Olympics in 1956. I was surprised at how small the venue was.

Today's hockey rink was the site of the opening ceremonies.
